Within Traditional Chinese Medicine, the ear has long been viewed as a microsystem of the body, with different points traditionally associated with different organs, systems and areas of physical and emotional wellbeing.
These points may be stimulated through acupuncture, acupressure and ear seeding.
At Her Solis, ear seeding is offered as a gentle, personalised treatment. Each placement is thoughtfully selected following a consultation, taking into account your lifestyle, how you’ve been feeling and what you would like to focus on during your appointment.
No two treatments are exactly the same—because no two people are exactly the same.
What are ear seeds?
Ear seeds are small gold-plated beads secured to the outer ear using a gentle adhesive. They are placed on specific auricular points traditionally used within auricular therapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Unlike acupuncture, ear seeding is completely needle-free. Once applied, the seeds can remain on the ear for several days, allowing you to gently stimulate the points yourself throughout the day.
One of the things I love most about ear seeding is its simplicity.
Pressing the seeds can become a small daily ritual—a gentle reminder to pause, take a breath and reconnect with yourself, even in the middle of a busy day.
Why is every treatment different?
No two people arrive with the same story.
Some people come in during particularly busy or stressful seasons of life. Others may be experiencing poor sleep, jaw tension, tight shoulders, digestive discomfort or simply feeling like they haven’t had a proper moment to slow down.
Rather than using the same ear points for every client, each Her Solis appointment begins with a conversation.
We’ll talk about what has been happening for you, including your lifestyle, sleep, stress levels, digestion, areas of muscular tension and anything else that feels relevant. We’ll also discuss what you would like to get from your treatment.
From there, I’ll select a personalised combination of auricular points for you.
Your placement may be completely different from someone else’s. It may also be different from your own placement a few weeks later, depending on what is happening in your life and how you are feeling on that particular day.
Why do people choose ear seeding?
Within Traditional Chinese Medicine and auricular therapy, ear seeds are traditionally selected as part of a broader approach to wellbeing.
People may choose ear seeding to complement their self-care when they are focusing on areas such as:
- Stress and relaxation
- Sleep and evening routines
- Jaw and facial tension
- Neck and shoulder tension
- Digestive wellbeing
- Hormonal wellbeing
- Headaches
- General wellbeing and feeling more grounded
At Her Solis, ear seeds are never viewed as a replacement for medical care or as a cure for any condition.
Instead, they are offered as one gentle tool within a broader, personalised approach to wellbeing and self-care.
What happens during an ear seeding appointment?
Every appointment begins with a personal consultation.
Rather than following a standard placement or one-size-fits-all protocol, I take the time to understand what is happening for you before carefully selecting your ear points.
Your treatment includes:
- A personal consultation
- Individualised point selection
- Careful ear seed application
- Guidance on how to stimulate your seeds
- Home care and removal instructions
The treatment itself is gentle and relaxing and usually takes approximately 20–30 minutes.
Once your seeds have been applied, I’ll talk you through how to care for them at home and how often to press them.
How long do ear seeds stay on?
Ear seeds are generally worn for three to five days.
During this time, you can gently press each seed for around 10–15 seconds a few times throughout the day. You may also choose to press them whenever you feel like you need a small moment to pause, breathe or reset.
The pressure should feel gentle and comfortable. There is no need to press hard.
If a seed falls off naturally, there is no need to replace it. If your skin becomes irritated, itchy, sore or uncomfortable, simply remove the remaining seeds.
A personalised approach
One of the reasons I love ear seeding is that it reflects so much of the philosophy behind Her Solis.
Our bodies are constantly changing.
Our stress changes.
Our sleep changes.
Our routines, responsibilities and environments change too.
It makes sense that our treatments should be able to change with us.
Rather than chasing one-size-fits-all solutions, every Her Solis appointment is tailored to the individual sitting in front of me.
The consultation is just as important as the placement itself. It gives us a chance to slow down, check in and create a treatment that reflects what may feel most supportive for you on that particular day.
